Sheet material

Strength, surface, structure and barrier — the properties that decide whether paper, board, film, foil or fabric performs on the machine and in the pack.

Paper, board, film, foil, textile and nonwovens share a problem: they are thin, they are produced continuously, and almost everything that matters about them is invisible. Thickness alone influences cost, strength and permeability at the same time.

We supply the instruments that turn those properties into numbers, from raw pulp through to the finished sheet — and a substantial part of that range we design and build ourselves.

What we measure

Tensile, burst, tear, internal bond and Z-directional strength of sheets, films and laminates, on universal testing machines and on dedicated instruments.

Smoothness and roughness, coefficient of friction, abrasion and pilling resistance, scratch and ink rub resistance.

Thickness, bending stiffness, folding endurance, and the compression and crush resistance of sheets, boxes and containers.

Air permeability, oxygen and water vapour transmission through films, foils and laminates, water absorption and contact angle.

Precision, strip and circular cutters and laboratory sheet formers, so that every measurement starts from a comparable specimen.
